Female Jungle (DVD)

On a dark night outside a seedy bar, a stunning blonde actress is found brutally strangled on the footpath. Detective Jack Stevens (Lawrence Tierney), an off-duty cop indulging in a night of serious drinking has become the prime suspect for the murder. But with no memory of that night and unable to confirm or deny eye-witness reports that he left the bar with the victim, Stevens begins his own investigation.

As the evidence mounting against him, Stevens begins his own list of suspects; a writer (John Carradine) preparing to work with the actress, a troubled artist (Burt Kaiser) who drew her portrait, the artist's wife (Kathleen Crowley) who works at the bar where the murder took place and the artist's beautiful mistress (Jayne Mansfield in her first screen performance), all of whom had motive and opportunity to commit the heinous crime. With time running out to clear his name, Stevens must piece together the deadly puzzle and uncover the shocking truth before a cold-blooded killer strikes again.
